Introduction to local and global self-publishing and zine-making in relation to photography for second year students, who were preparing for the production of their final portfolio.
Art and Publishing Talk
This talk touched on a specific body of work by Caroline Mackintosh and Candice Jezek titled Into the Murmur, detailing their methods around their handmade book and accompanied photographic exhibition. Michael Tymbios gave an overview of his celebrated project, First Thursdays, as well as his personal processes as a creative. Lastly, Nick Mulgrew, associate editor of Prufrock, shared his knowledge on uHlanga Press, his independent publishing house, focused on South African poetry.
Oh Sew Tangible
These artists, including myself explored the topic "Tangibility", discussing how it has impacted our art and practice, in an ever-growing digital society.
